Program Category EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
Nairobi Mombasa Embu Matuga Baringo

About the Course

The KSG program for BETA focuses on shifting the national economic model from a top-down approach to one that empowers small-scale traders, farmers, and the informal sector (Jua Kali). It utilizes a Value Chain Approach to analyze bottlenecks and enhance competitiveness in key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and the digital economy. The curriculum emphasizes transformative leadership, ethical governance, and the integration of the "Digital Superhighway" to streamline public service delivery.

Aim of the Course

To transform the Kenyan economy by intentionally re-orienting resources and policy toward the base of the economic pyramid, thereby creating jobs, reducing the cost of living, and fostering inclusive growth through a sustainable value chain approach

Target Audience

Public Service Leaders: Accounting Officers, Principal Secretaries, and senior officials in National and County governments. County Officials: Specifically those involved in Project Management Committees (PMCs) and devolution implementation. Private Sector & NGOs: Investors and leaders looking to align their business strategies with the national value chain. Young Professionals: Specifically young women (via the First Lady’s Young Women Fellowship) and youth in the digital and creative economies.

Learning Outcomes

  • Cost of Living Reduction: Lowering the price of essential commodities through enhanced agricultural productivity and food security
  • Job Creation: Generating employment for over 800,000 young Kenyans annually by supporting the informal sector and MSMEs
  • Inclusive Growth: Ending socio-economic exclusion by leveling the playing field for small-scale investors and marginalized groups.
  • Digital Transformation: Transitioning over 80% of government services online and enhancing digital literacy among the workforce.
  • Fiscal Stability: Expanding the tax base and improving foreign exchange balances through value addition (e.g., leather, textiles and edible oils)
  • Enhanced Governance: Establishing a culture of performance, accountability, and "Zero-Based Budgeting" within public institutions.
